Rain Water Harvesting
A project on Rainwater harvesting has been undertaken in the college campus. Four ‘Meg-Kalas’ (Meg means cloud, here meaning rain and Kalas means big earthen pot in Bengali language) have been set-up in the campus with 7000 litres of water storage capacity. The rain water is collected from the roof tops of the college with the help of gutters and downspouts. These downspouts are channelised in such a way that the collected rain water can be used for watering the plants in the garden, thereby reducing by 50% the consumption of water for the said purpose.
