Outreach Activities
The Outreach and Extension Committee of Bhairab Ganguly College, in collaboration with the Sourya Welfare Society, had organized an outreach program in one of its adopted villages: Bagdiha, also known as Jovi, in the Ranibandh Subdivision of Bankura district. The Principal, Governing Body members, Convener, faculty, and non-teaching staff facilitated the distribution of educational kits, sports materials(footballs, cricket balls, wickets, badminton, skipping ropes, indoor games) umbrellas, school bags, saree, dhuti, gamcha and clothes(dresses for girls, tshirts for boys) to students of Bagdiha Primary School and the villagers. The wholehearted efforts of the college authority and the teaching and non teaching staff, supported by the contribution of the Teachers’ Council, benefitted 50 students and 30 villagers of various ages. Karali Mullick, the Headmaster of the primary school, played a crucial role in organizing the outreach program. Such endeavours, aimed at the socio-economic development of the village, are conducted throughout the year. Additionally, two teachers receive remuneration from the college for running an informal school to teach and guide the students. Though the immense needs of the Sabar and Santhal villagers surpass our contributions, we endeavour to address their basic needs within our capacity, striving for sustainable development in the adopted village of Jovi, located 300 km away.
