A workshop on “Social Entrepreneurship” organised by the Social Science Forum in collaboration with Indian Institute of Management Kolkata Innovation Park, was held on 8th February 2019 at Bhairab Ganguly College. Vice principal Dr.Sanjit Kr. Das has welcoming all by addressing the necessity of entrepreneurship in today’s job scarcity situation.
Rather him Honourable Governing Body members of the college; CA Srikumar Banerjee Dr.Samarendranath Barik who present in dais also address he gatherings. The then IQAC Coordinator Dr.PrabirKarar as well as Dr.Santanu Chakraborty (Jt. Convener, Social Science Forum) has also delivered introductory speech.
Workshop started by Mr.BiswajitDey, Associate Legal and Compliance, IIMCIP. Mr. Archan Deb, Manager Incubation present the topic titled “Ideation, Innovation and entrepreneurship”.
The member of Nextconnect Ventures, Mr. Jayanta Basak talked about rural education start-up and women entrepreneurship. At last Mr. SantanuBasu , founder of AFGC Gaming was talked about international gaming ecosystem in India. The workshop was successful with vibrant gathering of huge UG and PG students with lots of interaction. This thought provoking session ends with formal vote of thanks by Prof. Arnab Ghosal, Jt. Convener, Social Science Forum.
A National Seminar on “Nation, Nationalism, and Beyond: Issues and Challenges” sponsored by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), New Delhi, was held on 12 and 13 April 2019 at Bhairab Ganguly College, which was organized by Social Science Forum of this college. Professor Basab Chaudhuri, honourable Vice-Chancellor of West Bengal State University praised the Social Science Forum of Bhairab Ganguly College in an exuberant manner for undertaking such a revolutionary seminar, and the ICHR for sponsoring the seminar. He spoke about the importance of such seminars in the present scenario of India.
Dr. Sanjit Kumar Das, Vice-Principal of Bhairab Ganguly College, conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the ICHR and the Social Science Forum of Bhairab Ganguly College for a grand success of the endeavour. The members of the Social Science Forum worked their heart out since and before the beginning of the seminar so that there could not be any room of error left and so that everybody could endure the once-in-a-lifetime experience that the seminar tried to provide. The Technical Session of Day 1 and Technical Session of Day 2 respectively were enticing as each paper varied so differently from the other one. There had been very eye-catching constructive arguments between the audience and presenters which was central to the theme of our endeavour. The chairpersons also respected each individual’s perspective and this is how the sessions had been perfect. This event involved the community in a new and unique way. The size of the crowd was unexpected and the lines were long. The income and expenses of the event provide an important context for future planning. Unexpected costs are common, but documentation provides details that can guide future planning.
7 Days Workshop on Research & Methodology
For improving the research quality of the faculties of different Colleges and Universities in the field of social science Department of Commerce and Economics of Bhairab Ganguly College organised Seven Day National level Workshop on Research Methodology (qualitative and quantitative) during May 15, 2018 to May 21, 2018 in collaboration of IQAC of Bhairab Ganguly College and BRASS. During those seven day exercise was done on Time Series, Logistic Regression (binary, multinomial and ordered), Panel Data Analysis, Structural Equation Modelling and DEA. Resource Persons were kind enough and conscious about teaching-learning process. Professor Indrani Chakraborty (IDSK), Professor Arup Chattopadhyay ( BU), Professor Panchanan Das (CU), Professor SoumanandaDinda (BU), ChiranjibNeogi (ISI), Dr.Krishanu Sarkar, Professor Soumendu Kishore Dutta (BU) have tried their level best to improve the research ability of 68 participants and encourage lot. Above all Joint Convenors’ of this workshop namely Dr.SurajitSengupta(Dept. of Commerce) and Dr.Santanu Chakraborty(Dept. of Economics) have expressed their gratitude to Honourable Vice- Principal Dr.Sanjit Kumar Das for his immense support and also to Dr.PrabirKarar, convenor of the IQAC of Bhairab Ganguly College. According to the participants that workshop was really a knowledge augmenting. It is undeniable that during those seven days (seven hours of each day) many of participants cross the threshold of many untrodden area.
For 3-Day Workshop on DEA
Further, after successful completion of 7 day workshop on research methodology department of commerce of Bhairab Ganguly College has arranged 3-Day Workshop on DEA from 15.06.2019 to 17.06.2019 in collaboration with IQAC of Bhairab Ganguly College for providing more stress on non-parametric approach. We all know that productivity as well as efficiency analysis are now essential and gaining much importance in the commerce and social science. During those days respected Chiranjib Neogi (ISI) and respected Dr. Rampratap Sinha (Associate Professor) have tried to teach us on efficiency analysis, inter-temporal efficiency, technical change, Radial and Non-Radial DEA, Technical change and Scale change so on and so forth. DEAP, DEA Solver and R software were used by them and they give direction about how to operate it and to interpret the results. On the basis of responses of the participants we, the joint convenors (namely Dr. Surajit Sengupta and Prof Rozy Lasker ), have found that all those sessions were enrich us and gives us a new direction of data analysis to fructify our objectives. We also express our gratitude to our Vice-Principal Dr.Sanjit Kumar Das for his magnanimous support.
