Call for Papers:
Women’s Studies Unit, Bhairab Ganguly College, invites the presentation of research papers in a One-day Students’ Seminar on “Gender in Contemporary Society” to be held on 28th February, 2020, at Bhairab Ganguly College to observe International Women’s Day, 2020.
Concept Note:
Gender inequality is deep-rooted in most societies. It becomes imperative to acknowledge gender as an important factor in the analysis of our society in contemporary times. Access to education opportunities for education, health facilities, political representation and economic decisions should be enjoyed by citizens, across gender.
Topics for presentation may include (but are not limited to):
- * Gender and Education (Role and history of women’s education)
- * Gender and Development (Economic and political aspects of gender studies)
- * Gender and History (Depiction of women in history, Women’s movements)
- * Gender and Literature (Depiction of women in Literature, women and creativity)
- * Gender and Media studies (Depiction of women in cinema, advertising )
- * Gender and Violence (Sexism, Crimes against women)
Participants:
Undergraduate and postgraduate students from various disciplines are invited to share their research experience in the field. Presentations will be of 10 min duration. Presenters are requested to inform the contact persons beforehand if they intend to use Power point presentation.

Last date of Submission of Abstracts: 10th February, 2020.
Abstracts (within 250 words) in English or Bengali should be sent via email to wsc.bhairab@gmail.com
Please indicate your name, department, institution of affiliation and contact number in the abstract.
Acceptance of papers will be intimated by 15th February, 2020.
